Company History
The Associated Construction Company was incorporated in New London, CT in 1942 by Angelo J.M. Giardini. The organization originally was founded as a military defense contractor and constructed various base facilities for the U.S. Navy at its submarine Base in Groton, CT. With a growing need for housing, Associated increasingly expanded into residential construction.
In 1946, Associated relocated its headquarters to Hartford, CT to help broaden and expand its client base for construction services throughout Connecticut. In Hartford, the firm’s reputation for quality construction work in the areas of housing development, commercial offices, retail facilities, industrial plants and manufacturing space, hospitals and healthcare facilities, institutional structures, and water & sewage treatment plants, grew and allowed many various opportunities for Associated to grow its business.
Today, the firm is led by President Joseph Jankowski who spent the past 30+ years working with both Angelo and Thomas Giardini. Mr. Jankowski is responsible for setting the strategic priorities for Associated Construction, as well as providing executive direction for the company’s continual growth. Mr. Jankowski began his career at Associated in 1984 and has led efforts to secure and build all manner of projects including commercial, healthcare, hospitality, broadcasting, multi-family residential and treatment plants across New England. Joe is an active member of various industry organizations, Joseph also serves on the board of The AGC.

Joseph Jankowski
President
Joseph Jankowski’s introduction to the industry began with Associated Construction Company in 1984. His tenure at Associated exposed him to complex, technical projects which imparted a high level of skill, experience and management techniques. The diversity of positions Jankowski has held include Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Superintendent, Estimator, Project Manager and Project Executive.
A principal of the firm, Mr. Jankowski now held the position of Vice President for about 15 years, where he oversaw the company’s operational structure. He is responsible for organizing the departmental framework and continuing process improvements. His project management knowledge and skills have been mainstreamed into Associated’s operations, resulting in the firm’s continued success in the lean, efficient delivery of construction projects. Mr. Jankowski has experience managing and overseeing projects in a diverse scope of industries including specialty structures including data and broadcast facilities.
He was named President of The Associated Construction Company in September of 2015.
