1942 - Founded
The Associated Construction Company is founded on August 4, 1942 in New London, Connecticut as a military defense contractor by Angelo J.M. Giardini.
1946 — Strategic Relocation
Company relocates headquarters to Hartford, Connecticut, positioning itself for broader access to commercial and residential markets across the region.
1940s–1960s — Post-War Expansion
Transitions from defense work into residential construction, builds a reputation for reliability and execution, gradually expanding into commercial and industrial sectors.
1970s–1990s — Diversification
ACC expands into: Commercial office and retail, Industrial facilities, Healthcare, and institutional work. Establishes long-term relationships with both public and private clients.
1980s–2015 — Second-Generation Leadership
Leadership is passed down to Thomas M. Giardini (son of founder). He expands into Construction Management (CM) services and strengthens presence in private-sector development.
2015 — Leadership Transition
Joseph Jankowski becomes President, a career-built leader within ACC. Advanced through all career roles. Marks a shift toward modernization and operational scaling for the company.
2020–Present — Transformation & Growth
Full ERP system overhaul and implementation of new PMI platforms. Recognition as a “Top Place to Work” in Connecticut (multiple years).
2023–Present — Strategic Evolution
Appointment of COO Sean F. Robertson – marks a deliberate shift from a successful regional builder to a scaled, system-driven enterprise, launched structured Annual Strategic Planning, and active expansion into existing markets.
