Associated has been hired as the general contractor for this ongoing renovation of research laboratory space for a large international pharmaceutical corporation, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., located in Ridgefield, CT. The facility includes a complete renovation incorporating upgraded lab equipment and an extremely sophisticated HVAC system capable of moving and filtering massive quantities of air.
The lab work environment needs to maintain ICRA III & IV levels for cleanliness and microbial particulate containment to support Boehringer’s highly secretive, proprietary development and testing of pharmaceutical products. The renovation includes installing high-end laboratory research equipment and casework, high-efficiency lighting, flooring, and ceiling tile.
Particularly critical to this project are the massive, high-quality upgrades to the existing HVAC system – vacuums, oxygen circulation systems, ventilation hoods, ductwork, exhaust system, and pumps. Negative airflow and containment systems are employed to maintain a clean room environment and minimize disturbance to adjacent R&D areas, which remain in operation throughout construction.
