Associated Construction was the construction manager for this $3.5 million expansion and renovation of ESPN’s main cafeteria located on the ESPN campus. The work consisted of constructing an elevated 4,000 s.f and building addition designed to accommodate additional seating, completely new bathrooms, upgrades to the kitchen, several existing server stations, brand new HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and construction of a 50 ft—ADA-compliant bridge connector to an adjacent office building. During the initial stages of construction, extremely unsuitable soil conditions were discovered, leading to an extensive redesign of the piling system and building footings. Despite this significant obstacle, substantial completion of the work was concluded with minimal delay to the construction schedule.
