The West River Water Treatment Plant was originally built in 1981, utilizing filtration and chemical coagulation to purify water for safe consumption and use by the local community. This project encompasses upgrades to existing systems and additional systems to continue improving the drinking water supply for local communities, reduce the resources required, and impact the habitats surrounding the facility. To achieve this, some significant systems installed are a Veolia AquaDaf System, a DeNora Hypochlorite Generation System, and an Anthratech US Inc. Filter Underdrain System. There were also extensive upgrades, including but not limited to a new generator and power distribution system, to guarantee safe and continuous power for the treatment facility.
